It actually has connotations even more childish than seigi no mikata does in Japanese.Personally, I just prefer they simply use 'Hero'.
In Japanese they differentiate between eiyuu and seigi no mikata because they have different connotations. In English we just use hero for both of those connotations. A 'Hero' is anything ranging from the guy who brought you coffee this morning to the guy who rescued a hundred starving orphans from a burning building.

Eiyuu is literally 'great man', I believe, and 'hero' is probably the most accurate translation. The thing is, it's more like the classical definition of 'hero' where it more or less meant 'badass' and didn't necessarily mean they were always doing the right thing.Seigi no mikata means 'Ally of justice' and does mean that they are always doing the right thing.

It has connotations of honor before reason, which sums up Shirou to a T. He will do the right thing no matter what. Much like a 'superhero' would, if saying that you wanted to be a superhero didn't basically mean you wanted to be Spider-Man.
